If you want to just see the features of webnote, feel free to explore the sample workspace.

Webnote is a tool for taking notes on your computer. It allows you to quickly write something down during a meeting, class, or any other time that you have a web browser available.

You start by creating a workspace and creating notes in the workspace. You can save your workspace at any time and return to them from the same computer or any other computer. You can also share your notes with others by providing the workspace name (or url) to a friend.

webnote on the desktop -

can i put the webnotes on my desktop? so i can see them from my computer?

There are a couple ways to do this. One way would be to get a different program to put stickies on your desktop. If you’re using a Mac, you’re probably already familiar with the Stickies program it comes with. On Windows there are a variety of programs.

But maybe you want to syncronize with your webnotes? If you’re running Windows, then you can customize your desktop and have webnotes on your desktop. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Open Display Properties (right click on your desktop and select Properties
  2. Select the Desktop tab and then click the Customize Desktop button.
  3. Select the Web tab.
  4. Press the New button to add a webpage to your desktop. It will ask you for the web location. You can copy/paste it from your web browser then press the Ok button.
  5. Finally, press the Ok button and the Apply button. You should now see your webnotes on your desktop.
  6. You can resize it by dragging the edges and you can move it by hovering your mouse over it until the titlebar appears and dragging the titlebar. You can also maximize it to take up your whole desktop.

I hope that helps!

color hack -

I’ve had requests for changing the background color of the notes. Here is an example of how you can save custom note colors with your own workspace and have it applied automatically. If you want to apply it to your own workspace, copy the contents of the note into a new note in your own workspace and set the colors.

You could use a similar trick to set the stylesheet to something external.

I also added an icon for the site.

text selection? -

Do you find it annoying that text sometimes gets highlighted as you drag notes? I can make it so that you can’t select text, but the drawback is that, well, you can’t select text. Instead you would have to double-click to edit the note and select the text there.

Currently, one would intentionally highlight text by holding ctrl+alt (or cmd on a mac keyboard), but it’s a little strange in IE.

I don’t know, what would you prefer? The ability to select text (how it is currently) or never being able to select text?

You can now filter by color. Hold shift and click on one of the mini notes on the top of the page.
